Last year I didn’t publish much and honestly I was a bit sluggish with my writing. And it was all personal, so this year I have decided that I was going to do whatever it took to meet my writing and word count goals. So I decided to set up an excel spreadsheet for myself that tracks all of the words that I write. I set up a yearly goal of 730,000 words, which sounds like a lot, but really it isn’t. That’s only 2,000 words a day. Which is very doable.
I created this to help myself and fellow writers who have goals to keep track of themselves and to give them a tool to hold themselves accountable. I know for myself, I need this too and my support of friends who will ask me everyday if I have gotten my word count goal. And here is a little secret if your goal isn’t quite so high, all you have to do is change the number in the formula to match yours. It’s that simple and if you need help with it, just send me a comment!
